TRIC offers two mid-range pulling units, the P38 and the P51. Both are 50-ton machines, with maximum pulling force achieved at different hydraulic pressures for each model. This allows optimum compatibility within a wide range of auxiliary hydraulic circuits on construction vehicles such as back hoes, excavators, and loaders, etc.
The only difference between the P38 (above) and the P51 (below) is the cylinder dimensions. The P38 has longer (green) 3.5” cylinders rated to 5,000psi, and the P51 has shorter (orange) 4” cylinders rated to 4,000psi. Both machines will pull to the maximum safe capacity of our strongest 7/8” CS (Compact Swaged) cable on a 12” pulley base, which is 45-47 tons. This translates to 3,600-3,800psi with the P51, and 4,700-4,900psi with the P38. With its narrower higher-pressure cylinders, the P38 is also quite compatible with our HC14 hydraulic power-pack, which is standard issue with our X30 lateral system. Both the P38 and the P51 will also pull 3/4” cable, which is more convenient for lateral jobs because of the open socket cable termination, which allows the 4” and 6” bursting heads to hinge on the socket pin. Maximum safe pull for 3/4” CS cable with the P38 on a 12” pulley base is 3,200psi, and with the P51 that limit is about 2,500psi. Feel free to contact TRIC technical support for assistance in matching one of these machines with your existing equipment and job scope.
